SIMPLE LIFE INC.

A Note from the CEO

SIMPLE. POSITIVE. HEALTHY. SUPPORTIVE.

Simplicity is the Secret Sauce to our Business!

As the Administrator and CEO of Simple Life, Inc., an innovative non-profit organization created to assist individuals with disabilities, I would like to share with you some of the exciting things happening in our agency.

In 2015, after seeing the need for additional mental health services in Siouxland, my dream was to start an organization that teaches people how to live simply. After all, most of the time, life is easier when things are simple. However, those struggling with mental illness are often incapable of leading a simple, positive, healthy life. Thus began Simple Life, Inc. with one staff and one member.

From symptom management and coping skills, to everyday tasks like how to make a grilled cheese sandwich or have a productive conversation with a friend, our goal is to break life down to its simplest form, like following a recipe. Our supportive team works with members, and members work with each other, to develop the skills necessary to live an independent and productive life. It is truly a group dynamic where we are providing communication skills and support alongside of coping skills so members can advocate appropriately for themselves.

Our program is open to those individuals who are 18 years of age or older who are interested in learning more about thriving, not just surviving. We also reinforce what it means to become a contributing member of the community in which they live. This includes building relationships with friends, family and other individuals in the community.

All of us at Simple Life sincerely thank you for your time and consideration, and we look forward to partnering with you to make a very positive impact on our community.

Wishing you a simple life,

Sheri Porter, Administrator & CEO

By now, you've probably guessed that I'm inviting you to partner with us either by donating financially or by volunteering your time and talents to help us continue to grow. Together, we can offer additional services to Simple Life members!

Here are just a few specific possibilities that your financial donation may provide:

$25 Art supplies for creative expression classes to practice stress reduction and coping skills

$50 Assertiveness skills curriculum to learn communication and conflict resolution skills

$100 Tickets for a group to enjoy a local event or go to a restaurant to use social skills in public

$200+ Contribution towards the purchase of a van so our classrooms can go mobile

It's quick and easy to donate! Just go to our Facebook page: simple life inc. or to our website, simplelifeinc.com. Press the donate button and then follow the steps. Or, if you prefer, simply put a check in the mail; our address is listed below. You will receive a prompt acknowledgment for tax deduction purposes.

Another great way to help is through volunteering. We love volunteers! We consider donations of time and talent to be priceless. We would love to discuss how you may be able to help, whether it's teaching an art or Zumba class, explaining how to bake your grandmother's shoo-fly pie, or accompanying us on an exciting adventure to the zoo, splash pad, or county fair. Maybe you love to give back like we do and want to join us in volunteering for other non-profits in Siouxland. The sky's the limit! Come join us!
